August is the month where many transitions happen, all of our pre-k graduates head off to kindergarden and we welcome new children to our school. As families resume their normal schedules after the summer vacation, as our school begins to focus on our regular schedule too. However, we continue with our summer fun activities for the first two weeks of August before resuming to our regular schedule. During these weeks we will conduct the following activities.

    Monday --------- Ooyey Gooey day
Tuesday --------- Clay and dough(salt and flour) day
    Wednesday ------ Beach day
    Thursday ------ Water Sports day
    Friday -------- Creative Art day

During the second week of August we will have these activities on different days. Children are encouraged to bring their swimwear ,sunscreen and extra clothing as we have water and water related activities available for the children especially on the very hot days.

We resume back to our regular schedule on the 3rd week of August. We place the children into their developmentally appropriate classes . We conduct a thematic program where by children learn something new and different each week. .During the first few weeks the children learn all about themselves ,they share pictures of themselves and their family. In addition we encourage them to share and talk about their feelings. We will decorate the classroom by placing their art work on the walls .adding new items to our dramatic play area. Any items that you might want to donate to enhance our play area is always welcome “your thrash is our treasure”
During the afternoon part of our day we concentrate on letters and numbers. Letters are taught through art activities .The pre-k’s focus on the upper and lower case letters and the 3 year olds focus only on the upper case of the letter. We begin the first week with the letter “Aa” and the second week with letter “Bb’ .The younger children enjoy learning to paste and create collages focusing on shapes and colors and having some fun !

Any questions on concerns please do not hesitate to e-mail me.

Have a wonderful month of August.
